Born into the World with Nothing but Love

Born into the world with nothing but love

Carried on like life was a playground

Everything was always beautiful

Curiosity always led to pleasures

The pleasures of playing out in the rain and forgetting my presence

Seeing a bird and wondering if it’s a littler human flying in the sky

Watching a chicken trot around the garden

Playing in mud and feeling something almost divine

Oh I remember laughing out loud without feeling self-conscious

It was all too beautiful, I didn’t have a care in the world

Until you told me I was a bad child, in those exact words

Those words poured darkness into my colourful world

I became tainted by your perception of failure

I became confused, not sure whether to believe it or not

My life changed all at once

I hid from myself

I hid from the world

I let you define me

I believed you, for how can you not believe the leading figure in your life?

Was I really bad though? Is a child ever really born ‘’bad’’?

Or is bad another word for fear?

Were you afraid of something?

Was it something in your past?

Did you see it in me?

Were you told the same words?

Is that all you know to be love?

Were you adored, or did you lurch in pain?

Isn’t love supposed to heal pain?

And wash away sorrow like rain?

They treated you with disdain

And you accepted it and became insane

It was up to you to protect your domain

The realm of happiness that is your right and mine too

For me, I grew up and woke up

I woke up to soak up

All the love in the air, for love is free, for the taking

For the love of self is love unmistaken

Love so uplifting you know it’s innately immortal.

No, I am not your definition of me

I am not a bad child

I am beautiful, I am strong I am created for greatness

I am a reflection of created perfection

Life is indeed a playground like I thought

I say a prayer for you and hope you find what your soul truly ever sought

For what good is life if love was never caught.

I was born into this world with love

I can die now knowing I lost it, sought it, caught it then saved it.
